The Institut français offers a wide range of activities for children and families throughout the year, from film screenings in its in-house cinema to storytelling sessions and art workshops. From 0 to 12 years old we cover it all!

Bibliothèque Quentin Blake

Offering hundreds of books and material for children up to 12-year-old, Bibliothèque Quentin Blake takes its name from its patron, Sir Quentin Blake (also patron of the South Ken Kids Festival). Its catalogue includes French language learning tools for all, easy readers & picture books, comics, French cartoons and films on DVD, audiobooks, music and nursery rhymes, video games, and so much more. Culturethèque

Our digital platform Culturethèque, ran by our qualified librarians, is an online library featuring more than 400 free ebooks, picture books, tales, comic books, magazines and bilingual books for kids to stream. We also offer 200 free audio and video contents recorded during previous events at the Institut français.

School activities

We welcome classes on our South Kensington premises and help them discover the best of French culture and language. Come and watch a French film in our cinema, and explore the biggest and most beautiful French library overseas. With our Set French Days, you can immerse your pupils in French culture for a full day with a linguistic or cultural activity and a film screening. You can also book a School Screening only or a French Day à la carte.

Book signings

Come and browse through hundreds of books at Bibliothèque Quentin Blake and from our on-site booksellers: Tales on Moon Lane for the English editions and La Page for those who can read French. Artists will be happy to sign their books.
